Pagan Rome was funded by two carnal brothers, Romulus and Remus,  the first committing fratricide against the second. Christian Rome was funded by two spiritual brothers, Saints Peter and Paul, who came to the capital of the Empire to give witness to the risen Christ and died for Him on the same day.  The Brothers will honor them by singing Vespers on the vigil (which falls on the 4th Sunday of Pentecost) and for the Mass on the following day.
