John James Velasco R.I.P.

Sad news from Fratellino

Of your charity, please pray for the repose of the soul of John James Velasco (seen here at far right in 2021), who passed away on Saturday evening at 6:50pm, PST. A husband, father, and grandfather, John was a Brother of the Little Oratory from 2008, a founding member of Chorus Breviarii San Diego from 2001, and a member of the Holy Cross TLM congregation from the 1990's. John will be greatly missed, but his dedicated service to Catholic tradition in liturgy and music has made a great contribution to the future. May his reward be great in heaven. Requiem aeternam dona ei Domine, et lux perpetua luceat ei. Requiescat in pace. Our Lady, St. Philip Neri, and all saints, come to his aid!

The people of Israel worshiped God in the desert for 40 years. The Irish Catholics under the English yoke would secretly gather on hills to hear Mass. Today we find ourselves in a similar situation: it is once again difficult for us Brothers to find official spaces where to organize liturgies that truly reflect the Roman tradition we strive to maintain. Please join us on Sunday for Vespers of the Assumption in Grape Day Park in Escondido. Your presence is the best way to show your support.
