As the paschal season comes to an end, we hear how the resurrected Lord bids farewell to His disciples. These are understandably sad, hearing how the God-man will soon leave them to return to the Father, from Whom He was generated before all ages. But Our Savior assures them that their sadness will  soon turn into joy, when they receive the Holy Spirit on Pentecost. As the disciples had to renounce to the bodily visits of Our Lord, so  our relationship with God cannot be based on what simply gratifies our senses. Rather, reborn in Christ through baptism, we need to grow a heart that seeks only what is pleasing to God and where the Holy Spirit may come to dwell. Experience all this through Vespers in Gregorian chant.

TENEBRÆ: THE OFFICE OF MATINS AND LAUDS OF MAUNDY THURSDAY

Hebdomadary: Rev. Fr. Eugene Sta.Ana.

Out of unfathomable love, the eternal Word of God was made flesh to share with us everything pertaining to our human condition, with the exception of sin. For sin makes us less then human. But He, Our Lord, God and Savior Jesus Christ, did not shun the bitter consequences of sin: sorrow, pain, death. He rather embraced them all so that we, even in the deepest pit of despair and degradation, be never left alone,  may always have a chance to turn to Him, who walked the Way of Grief before us, and be saved. For by sharing in his sorrowful Passion, we also share in His glorious Resurrection. This Holy Week come and meditate on the Passion of Christ with us.

Please join us at St. Vincent de Paul for Vespers of Lætare Sunday. The name is taken from the first word of the Introit, Lætare, which means "rejoice". The Apostle Paul, by quoting the prophet Isaiah,  invites us to rejoice with Jerusalem, to signify the joy of our approaching paschal redemption through the sacrifice on the cross of Our Lord, God, and Savior, Jesus Christ. Hear and feel all this through Gregorian chant.
