This is the time of the year when we are called to reflect on our mortality and, in this perspective, to set aside transitory goods for those goods that cannot be taken away from us. The Brothers of the Little Oratory in San Diego have been invited by Fr. Gismondi, pastor of St. Anne's, to sing the Gregorian propers and ordinary for the Mass of Ash Wednesday. On Ash Wednesday, the faithful are signed with the blessed ashes and hear the warning: Remember O man, that dust thou art, and to dust thou shalt return. Come and witness this most ancient ceremony.

The Brothers had a wonderful way to start the new year: they met at St. John's the Evangelist for a Mass in honor of Our Lady. Fr. Neely celebrated at the side altar, which is rarely used these days.

St. Cecilia occupies a special place in our hearts, since she is the patron saint of musicians. Come to St. Augustine's chapel on Monday night and hear the chants of the Traditional Latin Mass celebrating this heroic Roman virgin, who continued to sing praises to God while suffering cruel martyrdom. This event is free and all are welcome.
