The Holy Father on the Psalms and the Divine Office for Everyone

This week's address from the Holy Father concerning the importance of praying the psalms and the Divine Office is entirely consonant with the Brothers' own longstanding apostolate of celebrating the liturgical hours in parishes and with congregations. With that in mind we want to draw your attention through several links to the remarks of the Holy Father on these subjects.

Join us at St. Augustine's Monastery for our annual anniversary Requiem Mass for defunct brothers, friends, and benefactors of the Little Oratory. The  Mass will be celebrated in the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite, a.k.a. the Traditional Latin Mass, and sung in Gregorian chant. Immediately after Mass, the absolution at the catafalque will follow.

Musical Preparations for All Hallows Vespers

John Polhamus and members of the Tomas Luis de Victoria Choir of San Diego rehearse polyphonic numbers in preparation for First Vespers of All Hallows, scheduled for Monday 31 October at 7.30pm at Mission Basilica San Juan Capistrano, CA.

Polyphony will compliment the Gregorian chant, as sung by the Psalmists of the Brothers of the Little Oratory in San Diego along with Chorus Breviarii San Diego.

Vespers is the evening hour prayer of the Divine Office (a.k.a. Liturgy of the Hours). All Hallows Vespers will be followed by Exposition/Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament, chanting of the Litany of Saints and the seasonal Marian Anthem.
