Photos from the Office, Mass, and Burial of John J. Velasco

 From Fratellino on Sep. 13:

The Brothers of the Little Oratory and members of Chorus Breviarii San Diego, sang the full Office of the Dead (Vespers, three-nocturn Matins, and Lauds), as well as a Gregorian Requiem Missa Cantata, and the Burial service, for the first deceased Brother of the Little Oratory in San Diego and original member of Chorus Breviarii, John James Velasco, who is shown dressed for burial in the habit of the Oratorians, as is his privilege as a Secular Brother. This was all accomplished in summer heat, and with people to spare at each stage of the proceedings. Well done, True Sons of Philip. Requiescat in pace.

Below are some photos from the events, picturing Brothers, Chorus Breviarii members from San Diego and Murrieta, former choir members from the old Holy Cross TLM Community, and others:

The Burial:

After the Burial, the Brothers and Chorus Breviarii members sang the Oratorian tune "True Sons of Philip" as the people walked up the hill from the gravesite. Requiescat in pace. May our Patron St. Philip pray for the soul of our Brother John J. Velasco.
