Traditional Latin Mass
for Ash Wednesday
Celebrant: Rev. Carl N. Gismondi, Jr., F.S.S.P.

This is the time of the year when we are called to reflect on our mortality and, in this perspective, to set aside transitory goods for those goods that cannot be taken away from us. As it has become customary, the Brothers of the Little Oratory in San Diego have been invited  to sing the Gregorian propers and ordinary for the Mass of Ash Wednesday. On Ash Wednesday, the faithful are signed with the blessed ashes and hear the warning: Remember O man, that dust thou art, and to dust thou shalt return. Come and witness this most ancient ceremony.

Sunday February 16: Vespers of Septuagesima Sunday

Jacob de Wet (I) (fl. 1632–1675)  Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard

Sunday, February 16, 15:00 (3:00 PM)

 Vespers of  Septuagesima Sunday
Hebdomadary: Rev. Fr. Eugene Sta.Ana

4080 Hawk St, San Diego, CA 92103

With Septuagesima Sunday, we restart our monthly appointments with Vespers at St. Vincent de Paul. It is the Sunday when, in the ancient Roman Rite, the Alleluia ceases to be said. For it will not be heard till Easter Sunday. In the Gospel, we hear the parable of the workers in the vineyard, whereby we are all urged to hasten to God's work.
