A postcard of St. Joseph's Cathedral from the SDSU Digital Collection |
Friday, January 26, 18:30 ( 6:30 P.M.)
Sung Traditional Latin Mass of
St. Joseph Cathedral, seat of the
Diocese of San Diego
Celebrant: TBD.
Originally founded as St. Joseph's Parish by Fr. Antonio Ubach, the current building was dedicated on January 26, 1941, five years after the Diocese of San Diego separated from the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Per the traditional rubrics, the anniversary of the dedication of a diocesan cathedral is to be celebrated as a 1st Class feast in all churches of the diocese. The Brothers of the Little Oratory will be singing the Mass for this feast at St. Anne Catholic Church in Logan Heights in celebration of the current cathedrals 83rd anniversary. We're very pleased to have done Vespers and Mass at St. Joseph's in the past, and we pray that we'll be able to do so again in the future. Please do join us!
