Vespers of the 4th Sunday of Lent
(Laetare Sunday)
Hebdomadary: Rev. Fr. Burt J. Boudoin
990 Saturn Blvd, San Diego, CA 92154

The 4th Sunday of Lent is known as "Laetare" (Rejoice)  Sunday, from the words in the Introit of the Mass.  In this world it is not always easy, but we are called to rejoice with confidence in the promise that was given to us by our Savior. The brothers will celebrate Vespers of Laetare Sunday at St. Charles in Imperial Beach. Come and join us!

Sunday, March 3: UVOC Mini-Pilgrimage 2013

As every Lent, our Northern neighbors of Una Voce Orange County organize a mini-pilgrimage from St. Michael Abbey in Silverado to the Serra Chapel in San Juan Capistrano. I am sure some of us will join them also this year. Read all about it on their blog:

Sung Mass in the Extraordinary Form
for Ash Wednesday
Celebrant: Rev. Carl N. Gismondi, Jr., F.S.S.P.

On Ash Wednesday, which marks the beginning of Lent, the faithful have their fronts signed with blessed ashes. In the reading, the holy prophet Joel calls us to recognize our faults, amend our ways through prayer and fasting,  and turn with confidence to God. The Brothers of the Little Oratory in San Diego have been invited by Fr. Gismondi, pastor of St. Anne Catholic Church, to chant  the propers and ordinary for the ceremonies of the day. Do join us!

Sung Mass of  the Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary
in the Extraordinary Form

Celebrant: Rev. Fr. Harry Neely, O.S.A.

We invite you this Saturday to St. Augustine Monastery Chapel to the Traditional Latin Mass sung in honor of the purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary. According to Mosaic Law, she had to wait 40 days after giving birth before bringing a sacrifice to the temple. She complied in the presence of Simeon the just and the prophetess Anna. As Child Jesus is on this day recognized as the Light of the World, candles are blessed and distributed to the faithful.
