"Go forward in procession..."

This picture is worth a thousand words, but three only, will suffice: "Soli Deo gloria," to God alone be the glory. This was the scene following the service of Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament in St. Joseph Cathedral, at the conclusion of the Eucharistic Pilgrimage in support of the United State's Conference of Catholic Bishops' call for the Fortnight of Freedom. "Go forward in procession with branches, even to the altar." So enjoins Psalm 117, and so we did, through the streets of downtown San Diego. This was perhaps the greatest external achievement of the Brothers of the Little Oratory in San Diego, to date. We were able to mobilize about three hundred persons representing some eight to ten different diocesan bodies, creating a completely new manifestation of Catholic presence in the secular community. A truly joyous achievement. And yet, of course, the Almighty performs a far greater miracle through his priests in every mass. We merely exposed, for the world to see, His miraculous Eucharistic presence. We were merely agents, giving back to God the glory that is His due. And hopefully there will be more to follow. St. Theresa of Avila wrote, "...yours are the hands and feet with which He is to go about doing good..." Pilgrims, stay tuned for further developments!
