The Pharisee and the Publican by James Tissot, 1886-94 |

Vespers of the 10th Sunday After Pentecost
with Benediction
Hebdomadary: Rev. Fr. Richard Perozich
Please join us for Vespers at Immaculate Conception on Sunday, August 2. The theme will be the parable of the pharisee and the publican. The Lord teaches us that it is only through contrition that we may obtain forgiveness of our sins. The humble publican, the collaborationist with the Romans who had occupied Judea, showed a sorrow of soul and a hatred of sin committed, with a firm purpose of not sinning in the future. Therefore he was justified, while the proud pharisee was not. Hear all this in Gregorian chant.
